About the game and players

We all have to recognize that this is not a casino but a bunch of guys hanging out to have some fun and maybe win some money. We should not be bullying, commenting on others play, not passing card, on their phone while in the hand, trying to be loud, making fun of a play. (There is a difference between making fun and commenting on a beat). If a player(s) comment on another players aggressiveness or another players manor at the table that player has to recognize that others are annoyed at their play. By no means should we all be stoic and just sit quietly but at the same time we are not a bunch of five year olds at a birthday party. If you’re not in the hand watch don’t give your opinion while the hand is in play. Opinion would be I would not have played that. Not why would you play that? We have a good thing going here. Most of us have broken the common curtsey rule. We’re all adults so if someone says you’re bothering them then stop and think before you continue. So please be respectful of others and if you feel disrespected say something. – Evan

Real Friendly game

This was taken from our own set of rules. I’ve highlighted a few words.

      • Players who do not respect each other or this game will be asked to leave the game and not return. This is not a casino or bull ring it is a friendly social game.

Code of Conduct

        • Orderly maintenance of the game and civility among those who participate.
        • A player who repeatedly violates poker etiquette is a disruption to the game

        Cordiality

Refrain from criticising another player’s play.

        • Limit unnecessary chatter to avoid disturbing active players.
        • Do not be verbally abusive. (family, race, religion or personal attacks)

Seeing as though I adhere the rule of not smashing a bottle into another player’s face, why then aren’t the above rules being enforced?   (Al)

Length of game

I wanted to discuss the length of our games, and the many delays that prolong it.  We start at 7:30 so the game really shouldn’t go past 11:30. I think 4 hours is a good time frame for a decent game.

Im going to suggest afew things to assist in speeding up the games. I don’t want this to be voted on nor do I think it should be. As we are all friends I think respecting each other’s time should just be automatically.

1. Phones, if you got cards in play, your phone shouldnt be in your hands. Waiting for players to finish a text when it’s their turn, or having to update the player on what’s happened in the hand so far because they aren’t paying attention is one of the largest time wasters at the table.

2. If you draw a seat in the middle of the table, it’s your responsibility to assist the dealer in passing the cards down the table, passing the pot to the winner and the muck pile to the new dealer, so again put the phone down for 10 seconds and help out.

3. Distracting the dealer, leave the man alone and let him deal.

4. Distracting players in the hand. Let them play the hand, talk after.

As Winter comes and we start later its even more important we cut all the extra time off the game that we can

Thank you.
