This game was started for a bunch of guys to come out and have fun and play a little poker. Nobody gets rich at this game or poor. It gave us a reason to get together for some special events and have some fun. Now it seems every week that everyone is pissed off and constantly wanting rule changes.
My suggestion is that if you are looking for a friendly game to come and have fun at then come back to our game and play and have fun and try to get your name on the silly cup for bragging rights. If you are looking to go to a game to make a $1000 a week then That is probably not going to happen here.

Well put Evan & Steve but AS I SAID: We should always be open to ideas that may improve. If there is a formal outlet to have ideas heard I will respect it and comply. First it was stop e mailing, now it’s too many posts.Guess what? I won’t be ignored. It’s good thing we didn’t say LEAVE IT AS IS when Sandip and Rich joined.
All this started when the rules where to be enforced. That brought up clarity issues with the newer players.
Get it fk’n straight soon so the friendly vibe can return to the table.
Let me know when the meeting is. Until then I’m out
Hey Evan, if you stop playing we can still use your basement right??
lol
Yes, Steve you can still use the basement.
I really don’t understand why this has become such a problem. Why when things are now at a point where the game ends at a reasonable time and people on average have enough chips so that they can play for at least the amount of time it would have taken if they had gone out for a social night bowling or to a movie. As far as the cup. The purpose of the cup was that you get your name on the cup. Once we gave away a bracelet. The cup was a means to have those who came enough to get a their name on the cup. That’s it that’s all! It took us a few years to work out the number of points but we did it. Hurray!! I don’t know about others but if we don’t play it out, in most cases we come to a 60/40 agreement, I take whatever place the chips say I have. I don’t think most of us think “I could take another point because the guy in first doesn’t care.” I guess like in any game there are methods of cheating. But for the most part I don’t think anyone thinks of the extra point. If they do there is usually someone sticking around who would know if there was any bargaining for points. And IT”s only a name on a cup! The game is not for a lot of money. It is a chance to meet new people and spend time with friends. It is not too complicated for new people to follow and if you end up in the money once every five times you’re at least even. If not you’ve hopefully had a good night out. As for $5 from the one buy in going towards the “Club”. I think the winners of the night get at least what the original buy in was. The rest $25 out of $30 per buy in is a bonus and it’s the same for everyone. Normally the House would have taken a piece of the pot. Even if we were playing for a charity. In this case the money goes to provide everyone with a new table TV’s etc. If you prefer we can sell cookies door to door.
Sorry for the rant but this nonsense of wanting to always change for the sake of change make me want to not play and I enjoy the people more than the stupid game!!
One annual meeting will solve all this.
I second Steve’s motion.
So we are not wasting time we would need 10 players in attendance and a proper agenda and schedule.
An honour to be considered – y’all let me know if you’re serious about the proposed meeting and me mediating. Yikes 😳
Here…here!
I know I haven’t played much this year and at best I am an every other week player but for me it is fun night out to shot the shit, hang out with the guys and if even I win on the night I get bragging rights for a week.
There have been so many posts that it is hard to follow what is being suggested, that said yes the game has to evolve but in saying that think about this…this weekly game has been going on for the last what 12/13 years, that’s a pretty good track record.
So rather than trying to change or add a new rule every couple of weeks why don’t we all agree to discuss rule changes once or twice a year. It will be a decided night so those that are passionate about it should make effort to show up even for the rule discussion. Then with a majority there any change can be voted it. In-between these agreed upon rule/vote nights everyone can make their lists of game enhancements. By doing this everyone that has something to propose has a forum to bring it forward and if the majority agree then it pass for the period we decide (6 or 12 months).
So here what I would like to see happen, say we pick a night first Monday in July. Then from 7-8pm we have an open forum/vote on new rules. Once all the suggestions have been discussed and vote on by all those present, the new rules if any go into effect and then everyone stops talking about it until the first Monday in January!
Oh and with Rob Tyler having some council experience and being an impartial party, I put his name forward to oversee these sessions (sorry Rob lol).
That is all folks!
