Bad Beat Jackpot

In the hopes of adding incentive to attend, I propose a bad beat jackpot.     ONLY 1/2 the money in the cup.

Typically the payout is divided as follows:

  • 50% of the jackpot total is received by the player who LOST the bad beat hand.
  • 25% of the jackpot total is received by the player who WON the bad beat hand.
  • 25% of the jackpot total is divided equally among the remaining players at the table dealt into the hand.

Quads over Quads:

This means both players must have a pocket pair to make quads.

  1. I like the fixed pay outs.

$30 for bad beat Quads (w pocket pair)
$10 for cracked Aces (if it puts you out)
    $10 for royal flush.

But if you don’t think it would nudge a few people to attend then we might as well leave all the money in the cup.

    1. Can someone clarify the following for me…

I have been told since I joined over the last 2.5 years tocp ups see for bad beat protection.

Are we now suggesting protecting and rewarding bad beats?

  2. What about quads over quads and the looser gets a fixed amount $30.
Then it’s any quad over any quad. I don’t think it will make anyone want to come and play but it’s a nice bonus for the looser. Basically it’s his money back or his buy in. I was going to add 2’s beating A’s in a boat but it could sku the game as you may not play the 2’s but because of the chance of winning you do. That may be the case with any boat over boat. At least with Quads over Quads you know that the hand would have probably played out regardless of winning money for a bad beat.

  3. Yes nothing happens until Jan.2017
Just a discussion at this point.

How about whenever anyone gets AA cracked they get $5 from the cup? (nice and easy)

It’s a little bonus, it happens enough and takes the sting off.

Technically not even a rule change, it does not effect the game because people are playing their AA anyway.

  4. So like Kevin I like the idea but question the split and how best to use the cup money. Here are my three thought and just throwing it out there.

    1) The last time we changed the rules didn’t we agree that we would only change the rules 2 times a year. That said the next time the rules are open to change/enhance is January 2017.

    2) If there is a bad beat jackpot we should consider the amount of money that we are talking about. If we are at 100 then 50 to the loser, 25 to the winner and 25 split amoungst the rest of the table? Is that enough of an incentive? For the loser definitely but not the table.

    3) Maybe 1/2 the cuip money should be split 70/30 to the 1st and 2nd place point getters of that cup run. It could go all to the winner but hey they already get their name on the cup so it would be nice for the runner up to get something?

    Just some thoughts

  5. Good plan.
    Maybe start with A A A K K as the losing minimum.

    – No checking the hand down.
    – At least one witness.
    – Both cards have to play.
    – After one month we lower it to A A A Q Q .. etc

  6. Boat over Boat is fairly common, losing with quads would suck.
Some casinos it’s (10’s or better quads over quads)
    Obviously too steep.

I’d be cool with half the cup money to the winner of the cup but can’t implement it during a run. Either zero out the points or wait until next run.

Whatever majority decides I’m cool with.

  7. How about rewarding players with half the cup money for cup wins.

I highly doubt that bad beat money is enough incentive.

I do however appreciate the thought and effort in that post and the initiative to gain back or new interest.
