Next Cup Run – Lets go back to Basics?!

Here’s an idea that i tossed out there last night at Rich’s 60th bday party.

How about we try out a $30 buy in with no top ups, no rebuys for 10k in chips for the next cup run?

Also add a small bad beat prize from the  money in the cup ( $30 to $40 max ) to the mix for someone that gets knocked out within 2 hrs from start of game. ( or the end of 4th blind level )

Something simple as  AA’s full over AA’s full & higher.

Thoughts gentlemen?

  1. So sounds like we may need a vote sometime soon.

    My thoughts are:

    – give the 10,000 up front no hold backs
    – allow 1 rebuy of 7,500 before the blinds are 400/800 which is 2:05 minutes into the game
    – no bad beat unless we vote on no rebuys
    – allow full points regardless of rebuy…sometimes you go bust doing the right thing and if you rebuy and win then good for you

  2. I’ve Liked this idea for the last two years in regards to 10,000 chips up front.
Hopefully this will eliminate long nights, the way too many all in bets and will force people to strategize their play more.

The only thing about eliminating the rebuys all together is there will be no pot contributions on a weekly basis.
Maybe there is a way to alter this by found a modified rebuy or some sup contribution at the start of each cup run by each participant.

Bad beat pot is a good idea but only for pre determined published bad beats.

  3. Great idea but I would like to see one rebuy still the way we used to do it within the first two hours. If we go back to the all chips up front then I definitely think that we should have a bad beat pot. If you get knocked out within the first two hours with a full house or better than you get $15 back, something like that.

  4. Good Plan

    – 10,000 upfront.
    – One re-buy for 7,500 up to the two hour mark.
    – One less point if you re-bought.

This prevents the bingo style all in play that makes the game less fun for all.
